The possible nationalization of operations of grain in Argentina: it will give greater transparency or will produce a darker picture? Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 3, 2009 do intend the Argentine Government to nationalize grain trading? It was the question that most could be heard among the agricultural producers. There is great concern in so battered sector recently by the failed attempt of applying mobile retentions, the sharp fall in the prices of agricultural commodity prices, high inflation of costs suffered by the sector and more recently, a historic drought. Worse things could not happen to the Argentine countryside. Actually seems to be Yes, and this is linked to the creation of a joint agency project (obviously controlled by the State which would stay with 51% of the same), to control the market of grains in Argentina. Since the Government has denied the existence of this project, although a strong version that indicates that the same would be made known to the entities of the field raced in the day of today. It is true that version is gaining more strength every moment.
Not everyone believes in the existence of such a project of nationalization of the grain market. More than one analyst speculated with the possibility that the Government did run the version to force producers to rid of a remnant of soybean, calculated by the Rosario Board of 5.5 million tons and is valued at around US $1,900 million. Beyond the actual existence or not of the project, the field has been alert to the possibility of the same concrete. Proof of this, on Friday, Argentina grains market not recorded virtually business given that the producers chose not to sell merchandise, among other reasons, by the uncertainty over the official project. Marc Lasry shares his opinions and ideas on the topic at hand. An operator on the market of Rosario (the largest square of grains of Argentina), yesterday told Reuters: for now there is nothing of business.
